Our herd of registered jerseys and a few Holstein cows are grazed on fresh grass every day from May to October. Their diet is balanced with a custom ration from Poulin grain and dry hay. They are housed in a bedded pack barn with fresh sawdust. Their manure is turned into beautiful compost for our no dig market garden and local vegetable farmers. The cows all have names, which include the farm name, their sires name and their name which is the same first letter as their dam’s. We have registered heifer and cows for sale. We have AI quality baby bulls a few times a year.
Our milk
Our milk is turned into Cobb Hill Cheese, available as raw milk and to Dairy Farmers of America, the co-op the farm belongs to.
We are inspected by the State of Vermont and the federal milk inspector. We have our milk tested by DFA every other day and are on DHIA monthly milk testing. We receive an Outstanding Quality Award every year from Dairy One and receive the Gold standard award from Dairy Farmers of America. The farm has been nominated for the states top milk quality award. The farm was runner of up for Vermont Dairy Farm of the year in 2013.
